Caponizing, Caponizing Classes, Fine Art Watercolor Paintings and Farm Crafts
  1. Caponizing
Bring your cockerels to the farm and have them caponized. You'll be able to keep them longer than fast broilers without having to deal with heart and leg problems.
Like most people, we understand that a hatch is rarely 50/50. More often, the number of male chicks hatched outnumbers the female chicks. Rather than disposing of them, or raising them for little or no return, have them caponized so that they will grow into meat birds worth the time and expense of processing them for meat. The ideal time to caponize cockerels is between six and eight weeks of age. For $1.50 per cockerel, your birds can be prepped, caponized, and ready for your pickup in four days.
  2. Capon Classes
Small classes at the farm offer students the opportunity to learn and practice the lost agrarian art of caponizing cockerels.
The next class meets on March 16th, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are asked to reserve space in advance and bring a bright headlamp, such as a medical or dental headlamp, for use during the class. Instruction, including lunch, is $40.00 per student. As of March 3rd, there's only one seat left in this class. The second class in March meets on the 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are asked to reserve space in advance and bring a bright headlamp, such as a medical or dental headlamp, for use during the class.
  3. Fine Art: Watercolor Paintings
Commission your animal portrait via email. Portraits are painted from photographs, so a high-resolution photograph of your pet is essential.
